Mail

While I am in Zambia mail can be sent to:
Teen Ward
Peace Corps Volunteer- RED
PO  Box710150
Mansa, Luapula
 Zambia

You can't send FedEx packages to the PO address and it is very expensive.  If you wish to send something FedEx contact my parents at 719-659-2106 as they can get a discount and know the address to send it to.

I have heard that mail marked as religious material is less likely to be tampered with during transit. It is suggested that you draw crosses on the boxes, write Bible verses, or say things like “contains religious material," or "God is watching.” Zambians are very religious but superstitious.
If sending something of a little more valuable hide it inside a box of tampons or something equally unnoticeable.

Keep in mind, mail takes 8+ weeks to arrive in Zambia, and I might not be able to pick it up right away. It is also emphasized that you write “Air Mail” and “Par Avion” on anything you send. Please number each letter and package and include a "packing list" so that I know if anything has been lost/stolen.When sending packages , the international flat rate boxes through USPS are the best option.

What to send:
Ziploc bags (valuable as gold here)
Sunscreen
Cheese- powdered or any form that is not perishable
Duct tape
Flash drives with current music (MP3 files)
Yarn and/or Crochet Patterns
Doterra Oils
Cream of Wheat
Chicken and Tuna packets

Dried Fruit (not a fan of apricots and mango)
Drink Mixes (no grape flavors)
